President's Corner

Not All News is a Bummer: The President's Corner

Welcome to NWSA's President's Corner! Here members will find short video recordings (with captions) of President Pabón updating the membership on the Association's happenings: programming, opportunities, and special events. Members are strongly encouraged to hit play, turn the volume to a comfortable level, and then go about their day, while catching up with NWSA's latest.

President's Office Hours

Beginning February 12th, 2026, in an effort to enhance connection and communication between membership and leadership, NWSA President Pabón will hold virtual office hours between 10:00AM EST and 1:00PM EST on the second Thursday of each month.

Please know that you should inhabit this virtual space however you need to: video on or off, sitting, laying, or moving around. President Pabón is happy to communicate via typing in the meeting room’s chat, by video, or dial-in.

Book a Meeting

On the first Monday of every month, NWSA published a new President's blog that invited the opportunity to get to know our 22nd President, Dr. Heidi R. Lewis better, receive updates about forthcoming NWSA initiatives, draw excitement for our upcoming initiatives and the Annual Conference, and to quote Heidi "have some fun but not necessarily in that order and not always at the same time."

The President's Blog was an initiative informed by the 2024 Strategic Plan, authored by President Lewis, and served as a platform to engage with our Association President and respect the boundary between Association content curation and NWSA official Statements.

About Our 22nd President

In addition to serving as your 22nd National Women’s Studies Association President, Heidi R. Lewis is David & Lucile Packard Professor of Feminist & Gender Studies at Colorado College; inaugural Editor-in-Chief of Oxford Bibliographies in Gender & Women's Studies; and Series Editor of Expanding Frontiers: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality (University of Nebraska Press). Along with several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and public-facing articles written for New Black Man, The Feminist Wire, Ms., and other publications, she is the co-editor of In Audre’s Footsteps: Transnational Kitchen Table Talk (edition assemblage, 2021) with Dana Asbury and Jazlyn Andrews and the author of Make Rappers Rap Again: Interrogating the Mumble Rap "Crisis" (2025), the first in the Oxford University Press Theorizing African American Music Series. A proud native of the Midwest—Northeast Ohio, to be precise; Alliance, OH, to be exact—Lewis and her husband Ten (short for Tennessee) live in Colorado Springs with their two children, Antonio, Jr. and Chase, and their cat D’Brickashaw "Brick" Ferguson. She mostly loves being an academic, but she has what many call a “bad” attitude and a “foul” mouth. So, she often wishes she would’ve become a rapper instead.
