The Political Attack on Gender Studies: A Workshop on Defending Feminist Knowledge

When:  Mar 9, 2026 from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM (ET)
The National Women's Studies Association (NWSA) and members of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) invite you to a collaborative webinar in support of our members impacted by/navigating the intensified attacks on Women's, Gender, and Sexuality studies (WGSS) and sibling fields of study.
This interactive workshop focuses on academic freedom and institutional responses to anti-DEI/Trump administration policies, how we talk about and defend feminist knowledge, and resource sharing to bolster our collective organizing work.

We'll be in conversation with:

  • Dr. Rana Jaleel, Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Davis and Chair of the AAUP Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure
  • Dr. Laurie Essig, Professor of Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies at Middlebury College
