See You in Detroit! On Site Information & Resources

On Site Information

Welcome to the NWSA 44th Annual Conference On-Site Information page! We hope this page answers any questions you have about convening at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan, USA from November 14 - 17th.

Arriving at The Huntington Place Convention Center

All programming for the NWSA Annual Conference will be held on the south side of the Huntington Place Convention Center, located at 1 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226. We recommend using the Atwater Street entrance should you be usinga rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. If you are driving yourself, please note that the ideal parking locations are the Washington Garage or the Rooftop Garage; once you are safely parked, you'll take the Tower Three Elevator down to the first level. This elevator brings you near our registration hub - our central location of the conference!

Traveling from the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center

The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is our official conference hotel! We will not host any General Conference Sessions or formal events at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The Marriott is 0.5 miles from the Atwater Street entrance of the Huntington Place Convention Center. For able-bodied attendees, this is an approximate 10-12 minute walk along the Riverwalk pathway.

Walking Directions:

  • Exit the Detroit Marriott main entrance (ground floor) and make an immediate left.
  • Head towards the river and you’ll make a right to join the Riverwalk pathway.
  • You will pass the International Memorial to the Underground Railroad on your right-hand side of the path. Stop and take a selfie!
  • The Huntington Place Convention Center entrance will be on Atwater Street entrance - this is the first level and you can’t miss our welcome signage!

Hotel Shuttle:

The Association proudly provides a shuttle throughout the day for all attendees between our conference hotel, the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, and our conference site, the Huntington Place Convention Center. This shuttle will be on a continuous loop between both locations, stopping at each location approximately every 15 minutes. Equipped with wheelchair access, comfortable seating, and easy boarding, it ensures that attendees can move between both venues comfortably and efficiently. The bus will run at regular intervals with pickup/dropoff at the Detroit Marriott and Atwater Street Entrance at Huntington Place.

The Detroit People Mover, which typically provides free transportation between both locations, is unexpectedly closed for the duration of our Annual Conference. We are grateful to our Huntington Place and Visit Detroit colleagues for assisting us in our search for accessible transportation options.
