Dr. Pagán Vélez is the coordinator of the Minor in Women and Gender Studies at the University of Puerto Rico; the program "strives to ensure that its students understand the debates surrounding the structures, knowledge, and power practices that reproduce the complex relationship between gender, class, culture, race, and sexual orientation" through dynamic courses and mentorship.

SIEMPRE VIVAS Metro (SVM)

SIEMPRE VIVAS Metro (SVM) is an interfaculty project at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Founded in 2019 at Río Piedras, SVM emerges from the loving and combative efforts initiated in western Puerto Rico through SIEMPRE VIVAS RUM at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. SIEMPRE VIVAS Metro provides support, accompaniment, and advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual violence—both within the university community and in society at large. Its focus is grounded in safe spaces and collective accompaniment, prevention, social research, and activism from a feminist and decolonial perspective.

Memoria (De)colonial is a Puerto Rico-based educational organization that “interrogates the colonial legacies of Caribbean cultural heritage. We disrupt the coloniality of historical memory through public humanities initiatives. Shout Your Abortion

SYA makes resources, campaigns, and media intended to arm existing activists, create new ones, and foster collective participation in abortion access all over the country. In 2015, the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion inspired a viral outpouring of abortion stories on social media, receiving front-page coverage from The New York Times, LA Times, and major media the world over. A grassroots movement quickly took shape, and a non-profit was established by SYA’s Cofounder and Executive Director Amelia Bonow in 2016. In the years following, SYA has consistently affected transformational cultural change through a wide range of campaigns, materials, actions, and creative projects.
