Eight Tips for Successful Proposal Submission

EIGHT TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

1) READ THE FULL CFP
.  Proposal submission guidelines and criteria for selection are included.

2) Verify that you can successfully log into the online submission siteLog in using your username and password for your individual membership or guest log in. Please note these are case sensitive.
 Once logged in, click "Submit a Proposal." From this page, click the link which will bring you to the online submission system. This will confirm that you are able to successfully enter the submission site.

Don't remember your password?  Use the forgot your password function on www.nwsa.org  If you have trouble, please email nwsaoffice@nwsa.org for assistance.

New to NWSA?  WELCOME!!!!!  Please create a Guest Log In. You will be able to log in using the credentials you create and you will use these credentials later to fill the presenter requirements. If someone else is organizing a session and including you as a presenter, they will be able to add you as a presenter to a session 24 hours after you complete your Guest Log In.

3) SPECIAL TIP FOR SESSION ORGANIZERS: Verify that you can find your co-panelists in the online submission system.

Current and recently expired members will appear in the list. Colleagues who have never been members (or have been expired for more than 5 years) or may not appear on the list. First, verify you have the correct spelling of their names and email addresses and try again if initial information was incorrect.  If they do not appear, contact them to create a guest log in so that they will appear in the drop down participant list. Remember: The proposal submission system updates new guest log-ins overnight. Guest Log ins must be created at least 24 hours before you plan to submit the proposal.

If you are a session organizer and you also planning on presenting, please remember to add yourself as a presenter.

4)  Works Cited Requirement
In 2015, NWSA added a Works Cited Requirement to assist proposal reviewers, submitters must include works cited in the rationale of the proposal.

5) A/V Rationale
If you are requesting an LCD projector with laptop and computer speakers to support your presentation, please complete the A/V rationale to describe how you will use the equipment to enhance your presentation.  The Program Committee uses the A/V rationale to guide their decision making when allocating resources for the conference.

6) Check out Sample Proposals
NWSA posted examples of successful proposals from a prior conference here.  All 2018 proposals must address one of the seven subthemes in this year's Call For Proposals.

7) Save your confirmation email. The online submission system will auto generate an email for the session organizer from do_not_reply@allacademic.com. The email will arrive within minutes of completing your submission.  It will look like this:

          Dear NAME,

          Thank you for submitting a proposal, "Proposal Name" for the National Women's Studies Association annual conference. 

          All submissions are anonymously reviewed.  You will be notified about the status of your submission on or before May 1, 2018.

          If you have any questions about your submission, please contact nwsaoffice@nwsa.org

Once you receive your email confirmation, please DO NOT REPLY to All Academic. The email will not be viewed or answered. For questions about your submission, or its status, please contact nwsaoffice@nwsa.org

If you do not receive the email, it may be due to one of the following issues:

A.    You did not complete the submission process properly. Go back and review the above notes to make sure you have completed the process.

B    Your email address is incorrect. If you log in with an email account you no longer use, you will not receive email notifications.

C    Your email has very sensitive spam blockers that are blocking the incoming email. You can check your "junk" email inbox, add the domain "@allacademic.com" to your safe list, and talk with your email provider to resolve this issue.

If you take these steps and still do not receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of completing your proposal, contact nwsaoffice@nwsa.org immediately.

8) Start the submission process early!  Starting early will give you the time to develop the best proposal and ensure that you can complete the online submission process.
