Seeding Critical Connections: A WGSS Community Support Space

When:  Feb 25, 2026 from 07:00 PM to 08:00 PM (ET)

Our field of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies artists, cultural workers, disruptors, educators, practitioners and multi-hyphenates are experiencing “an alarming, but not surprising, escalation of nefarious maneuvers meant to repress our reach and impact” under this rise of fascist legislation. We are striving to meet this political moment by pouring into our greatest resource - our community.

Please join us for a community support space for WGSS scholar-activists navigating, resisting, and witnessing program and department closures and/or absorption into “new” departments, dismantling of Women’s/Gender Equity Centers, pedagogical threats and censure, and any configuration of anti-DEI attacks at the institutions. We evoke the energy of our 44th annual conference and ancestor Grace Lee Boggs in the reminder “movements are born of critical connections rather than critical mass” as we knit together meaningful solidarity and resource sharing.

The NWSA is proud to continue our partnership with the The American Association of University Professors/Center for Academic Freedom, the National Women’s Law Center, and sibling organizations for a series of workshops and support spaces. Please stay connected to our news and events for upcoming opportunities.
