Freedom to Learn and Teach | In Defense of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
×
When:
Apr 6, 2026 from 01:30 PM to 02:30 PM (ET)
The National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA) is proud to continue collaborating with the National Women’s Law Center in our ongoing work of navigating the intensified legislative attacks on higher education and the disproportionate impact on Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Community is our greatest resource and we’re proud to nurture solidarity as well as practice thought partnership with our colleagues leading feminist change.
Join Shiwali Patel (Senior Director of Education Justice) and Lauren Khouri (Senior Director of Workplace Equality) of the National Women’s Law Center, in conversation focused on employee protections and rights given state-led efforts to dissolve tenure as well as protections for gender conscious programming in schools (including Title IX). We’ll also dive into discussion on how we can discuss these issues, contextualize the particular attacks on our field, and future collaborations in defense of our field.
