Description
On Friday, November 15, 2024, attendees are invited to participate in an intimate walking tour of the Boggs Historic District. Participating requires advance ticket purchase and space is limited to 25 folks!
* Begins 12:30 PM and ends at 2:30 PM
* Ticket Cost: $25, all funds raised will benefit the James and Grace Lee Boggs Foundation
This is a rare opportunity to visit the historic home of James and Grace Lee Boggs (currently closed to the public and open only by invitation) along with the James and Grace Lee Boggs K-8 School. You will meet revolutionary activists who worked with Jimmy and Grace, as well as members of their family. This is a great opportunity to get away from the Downtown center of gentrification and engage with community organizers and residents on Detroit's working-class Eastside. We will discuss the Boggs' history and explore how younger activists and educators are building on their radical legacy.
Meeting location and directions will be provided in

holders. You must provide your own transportation to the site, which is around a 15-20 minute drive from the Marriott and Huntington Place. Please note that this tour will involve walking between 4 to 8 blocks outdoors, so dress appropriately. If you are unable to walk, you can access most of the tour sites with your own transportation. However, the interior of the Boggs house may not be fully accessible for wheelchairs and assisted mobility devices.
