NWSAction Spring 2008

Welcome to the Spring 2008 edition of NWSAction!

The Spring Issue is traditionally the Conference Edition and this one is no exception.

You will find plenty of general information about the 2008 conference and some opportunities to start the discussion early with some of our presenters.

We also feature a survey on the Feminine Mystique which we hope you will participate in, articles, new books by members, and a reminder of days-gone-past in the "Getting More Efficiency Out of Women Employees" posting.

Enjoy, interact, and tell us what you think.

Valda Lewis, Editor, NWSAction.

Reflections on the Field

As you may already know, NWSA partnered with the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago to collect data on women’s and gender studies programs nationally. This project was made possible with generous support from The Ford Foundation.

That project is now complete and long-awaited results are available on the NWSA website as a report and in a searchable database

From NWSA President Barb Howe

NWSA Making Historic Strides
This will be my last column as NWSA president, so I want to use this time to thank all of those who have contributed so much of their time, energy, and resources to NWSA over the past two years. I will not try to name everyone because, in that attempt, I will surely omit someone by accident.

This has been a particularly significant period in NWSA’s history because we have had resources from the Ford Foundation to help us plan for a more vibrant and stable future for the organization.
