The Program Administration and Development Committee (PA&D) is a standing committee in NWSA specifically designed to represent the interests and needs of administrators of women's studies programs and departments to the Governing Council of NWSA and to assist NWSA in meeting the needs of women's administrators and their departments and programs.

The PA&D webpages offer a wealth of free downloadable resources for NWSA members.

NWSA Data Collection Project

NWSA is partnering with the National Organization for Research (NORC) at the University of Chicago to collect data on the field of women’s studies nationally.

Women of Color Leadership

The WoCLP is designed to increase the number of women of color students and faculty within the field of women’s studies and, consequently, to have an impact on the levels of participation and power by women of color in the PA&D, NWSA, and in the field of women’s studies as a whole.

Special Elections Positions

These are Governing Council positions and will be filled via a special ballot of the Governing Council, as required by the NWSA Bylaws.  The deadline to nominate candidates is Friday, February 29, 2008. Nominations and self-nominations should be sent to NWSA Elections Chair Peggy Rivage-Seul at peggy_rivage-seul@berea.edu

Women’s Centers Steering Committee Chair

  1. Women’s Centers Steering Committee.  This committee shall have a minimum of five (5), including the chair.  Duties of the committee are to: 
  2. Actively work for the inclusion of center issues at the national conference
  3. The Women’s Centers Committee shall work collaboratively with Women’s Studies programs and departments to advance an understanding of how women’s centers can promote activism and inform research and teaching in Women’s Studies.
  4. The Women’s Centers Committee shall work proactively for the inclusion of women’s centers issues in presentations, sessions, panels, and speakers in the annual Conference.
  5. The Women’s Center Committee shall organize and administer projects that address the needs of Women’s Centers’ administrators and staff.
  6. Administer projects that address the needs of women’s centers

Student Interest Steering Committee (Co-Chair Position)

  1. Student Interest Steering Committee (Co-Chair Position).   This committee shall have a minimum of five (5), including the chair.  The duty of the committee is to advance the vital role of students perpetuating the field of women’s studies.

VOTING PROCEDURE

In order to vote in the election you must have your annual individual membership paid 30 days prior to the mailing of ballots, and our constitution and bylaws require that ballots are available to the membership for a minimum of 30 days.

The following time line was therefore established for elections:

March 3 - All nominations due
March 3 - Those who wish to vote in the election must be NWSA individual members by this date. Institutional membership does not provide voting rights.
April 3 – Elections begin - ballots will be mailed to individual members at the mailing address indicated on their membership form. Ballots must be returned via mail.
April 18 – Those who wish to vote in the membership assembly must be NWSA individual members by this date.
May 3 – Elections end - completed ballots due to the Elections Chair (final U.S. postmark). If mailing internationally, please mail earlier than the May 3 postmark date to ensure inclusion in the final counts.
May 10 – Announcement of election results. These will be posted on the NWSA website, and emailed to the Governing Council, PAList and WMST-L.
June 18 – Positions begin at post-conference Governing Council meeting.
