About the Girls Studies Girls' studies is an emergent field that focuses on girls’ lives, interests, and culture—areas which have been underresearched, but which constitute a critical and exciting contribution to the future of women’s studies. The Girls' Studies Interest Group provides girls 'studies scholars an intellectual home and a dedicated forum for the development of regular conference programming. This programming will address the unique theoretical, methodological, epistemological, and ethical challenges confronting girls' studies scholars. Topics include:
The Girls' Studies Interest Group was founded at NWSA's 2005 conference. There, we had a vibrant schedule of girls' studies sessions, which were coordinated by the Girls and their Allies Caucus. Sessions included "Doing research with girls: A girls studies workshop" and two roundtable discussions: "Envisioning girls studies: Recent trends and future agendas" and "Girl in a woman's world: Girl studies and women's studies in the round."
